Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a computer to verify an authentication code with a token without any dialog with a remote authentication server.SOLUTION: For a predetermined period, an event sequence and/or a verification record corresponding to a given authentication token output for a challenge set is downloaded to a verifier. The record includes encrypted information or hashed information for the given authentication token output. In an embodiment using time intervals, token output data, a salt value, and a pepper value are hashed in each time interval, and compared with a verification record for the time interval. When the comparison is successful, a user can access the computer. Further, a PIN value is also given as an input to a hash function. A part of a hash function output is used as an encrypted password or a key for decrypting other sensitive information.
