Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion current detection processing device for internal combustion engine which is capable of easily and accurately calculating the parameter for analyzing the combustion state of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An ion current calculation routine S10 is activated immediately after the completion of inductive discharge and first stores a detected value of an ion current detection signal Sins in a memory circuit (S11). Then a discharged charge amount Si of a capacitor C is calculated (S12). Then the voltage Vn between both ends of the capacitor at a leak current measurement time point tn is calculated based on the discharged charge amount derived from an area value Si (S13). Further thereafter, a smoldering resistance R (leak) is calculated based on the resulting value of the processing (S14). Thus the value of the smoldering resistance R (leak) becomes accurate since it is calculated based on the discharged charge amount of the capacitor.
