Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inactivating a hepatitis virus by inhibiting the viral replication in an infected cell using 2'-fluorine dsRNA or siRNA, relating to the field of nucleic acid detection and to the phenomenon of RNA silencing, or RNA interference (RNAi).SOLUTION: The method for inactivating the virus that causes hepatitis in a patient includes (a) s step of administering to the patient a modified double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) or modified short-chain interfering RNA (siRNA) in an effective amount to inactivate the virus and (b) a step of administering to the patient a cholesterol-lowering drug.
