Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for generating basic safety message (BSM) data and transmitting the BSM data.SOLUTION: A road side infrastructure system is configured to generate and transmit basic safety message data, and to reinforce a vehicle safety application. In one example, a road side module of this system includes: a camera; a video analyzer for detecting a vehicle by processing an image from the camera; a basic safety message (BSM) generator for generating a BSM about each detected vehicle; and an antenna for transmitting the BSM. In another example, the road side module is configured to detect the BSM data generated by an installed vehicle, determine whether or not all the detected vehicles are installed vehicles generating their own BSM data, and generate the BSM data only about detected uninstalled vehicles.
