Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress decrease in sensitivity which occurs at gaps between neighboring magnets.SOLUTION: Each of magneto-sensitive parts 20 of respective magneto-resistive elements is configured by forming a plurality of short bars 22 made of an electrode material on a magneto-resistive layer. A magneto-resistive part represents a portion which is not covered with the short bars 22 in each of the magneto-sensitive parts 20. When magnetic material printed on a banknote passes above the magneto-resistive elements, a changing rate of resistance (element sensitivity) varies depending on a passing position of the magnetic material. The changing rate of resistance for the magneto-resistive element increases as density of the magneto-resistive part in the magneto-sensitive part increases. Thus, by setting the density of the magneto-resistive parts of the magneto-sensitive parts 20 at positions above gaps between neighboring magnets and positions around gaps between the neighboring magneto-resistive elements relatively higher than that of other regions, decrease in the sensitivity at gaps between neighboring magnets can be suppressed.
