PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for specifically inhibiting gene expression in mammals by bringing a target gene into contact with a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA).SOLUTION: There is provided the method for inhibiting expression of the target gene in a mammal cell, more specifically, the method comprising introduction of an RNA containing a double-stranded structure having a nucleotide sequence essentially identical with at least a part of the target gene and derived from an endogenous template into the mammal cell and confirmation of inhibition of the target gene expression.
