Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which, although flexible error processing and improvement of security can be realized by distinguishing between substantial data and attribute information for data transferred from a portable storage device to a host apparatus, since processing performance of a CPU provided in a portable storage device is low in general, it is difficult to analyze data stored in the portable storage device and distinguish between attribute information and substantial data.SOLUTION: A USB-SATA conversion substrate 11 of a portable storage device 1 comprises data size determination means that, when a write command and a read command are input from a host apparatus 2, determines the sizes of data pieces designated with both of the commands. The USB-SATA conversion substrate 11 further comprises data information determination means that compares a predetermined data size with the data sizes of data pieces to be written and read to determine which of substantial data and attribute information the data pieces are.
