Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element having a high photoelectric conversion efficiency and a high durability, and to provide an electrochemical battery using the same.SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element has a structure in which a first electrode layer, a first photoelectric conversion layer, a conductive layer, a second photoelectric conversion layer, and a second electrode layer are sequentially laminated. The first and second photoelectric conversion layers contain dyes different from each other and semiconductors. At least one of the dyes contained in the photoelectric conversion layers is represented by a general formula (I): M(LL)(LL)(X).CI. There is also provided in the present invention an electrochemical battery using the photoelectric conversion element.
