Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device configured such that an optical irregular reflection raw material is made to shine by a light source such as an LED from the edge face of light guiding means such as an acrylic board, where the optical irregular reflection raw material is made to brightly shine when the light source is turned on, and the optical irregular reflection raw material is made invisible to such an extent that its existence is unidentifiable when the light source is turned off.SOLUTION: In a device having flat-plate light guiding means 1 and a light source 2, an optical irregular reflection raw material 3 is installed on a light guiding means surface 12 by film attachment or printing or the like so as to form characters or graphics, where: one or more of the characters or the graphics are formed in narrow shapes whose line width is about 2 millimeters or less; the optical irregular reflection raw material is made by a white raw material; and a white light source is used for the light source. Thus, the characters or the graphics are made to shine in white when the light source is turned on, and when the light source is turned off, the characters or the graphics whose line width is 2 millimeters or less are turned into fine lines in gray to be dissolved into the background so that its existence can be almost unidentifiable.
