PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pager having an advertising function allowing a continuous use, having a notification function for preventing a person from missing a turn and capable of creating an advertising market effectively using a boring waiting time by providing the person with various advertisements during waiting; and to provide a control method thereof.SOLUTION: The pager having an advertising function in accordance with the present invention includes: a communication unit for communicating with a waiting number generator; a button input unit configured to transmit a waiting number request signal along with a unique ID to the waiting number generator via the communication unit; a waiting number display unit receiving and displaying the waiting number fed from the waiting number generator via the communication unit; an input port receiving an input of advertisement information to be provided during waiting; a memory storing the advertisement information to be input via the input port; a processor connected to the memory and decoding and reproducing the stored advertisement information; a display unit connected to the processor and displaying the advertisement information reproduced by the processor; and a power supply unit supplying the operating power source.
