PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target tracking apparatus and a target tracking method in which only really required target tracking information is selected and outputted under the state where reliability is high from the beginning when newly selected target tracking information is outputted, the target tracking apparatus being configured to select and output a portion of target tracking information.SOLUTION: A target tracking apparatus comprises: a full target capturing section for capturing all targets being present within a target search range; a full target tracking section for tracking all the targets captured by the full target capturing section at all the time and outputting target tracking information for each of the targets as first target tracking information; a condition input section for outputting a condition for selecting only the target tracking information of a target meeting a designated condition among all the targets out of the output of the full target tracking section; and an output information selection section for inputting the first target tracking information and outputting only the target selected by the input to the condition input section as second target tracking information.
