PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time needed for drying water-capturing agent after application of the water-capturing agent in an organic EL element.SOLUTION: A water-capturing agent is provided inside of an airtight container which is made airtight with: an insulative element substrate having disposed therein a laminate comprised of an organic layer including at least a luminescent layer, which is held in place between a pair of electrodes; and an encapsulation substrate which encapsulates the element substrate leaving a clearance as opposed thereto. The water-capturing agent contains as a drying ingredient an organic metal compound with an organic solvent added, which is represented by the chemical formula shown below, and is obtained by solvent-substituting at least part of an organic solvent in the organic metal compound by a substitution material having a viscous property.
