Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina-magnesia-based refractory brick which is excellent in residual expansibility, stress relaxation ability and slag infiltration resistance, required for ladles, particularly refractories for steel bath parts, and which restrains contamination of a molten steel by carbon, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: In the method for producing the alumina-magnesia-based refractory brick, an alumina-based raw material and a magnesia-based raw material containing ≥90 mass% of a fine powder having a grain size of ≤0.5 mm are used, wherein the total amount of AlOand MgO as chemical components is ≥85 mass%, MgO is 4-20 mass%, SiOis 0.5-5 mass%, the total amount of NaO and KO is 0.3-2 mass%, and C is ≥0.5 and <7 mass%. The production method is characterized by mixing/kneading the raw materials, press molding the obtained kneaded material, and heating the resulting molding for treatment within the temperature range of 100-1,150°C.
