Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a station-side optical communication device and a method for detecting a light emission error, capable of rapidly detecting occurrence of a light emission error at a subscriber-side optical communication device and generating an alarm.SOLUTION: A station-side optical communication device includes an optical receiving section for receiving an optical signal transmitted and time-division multiplexed by a plurality of subscriber-side optical communication devices and a light emission error detection section for detecting a light emission error of the subscriber-side optical communication device based on a reception result by the optical receiving section in an emission inhibiting interval for inhibiting transmission of the optical signal of all the subscriber-side optical communication devices.
