Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing CoOfine particles with oxidation capacity of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide which are comparable nanoparticles using simple processes and facilities.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing exhaust gas cleaning catalyst fine particles including steps of: generating cobalt hydroxide by adding aqueous solution of cobalt salt to 0.8-1.1 times the amount of alkaline requiring neutralizing the salt; maturing the generated cobalt hydroxide; and the cobalt hydroxide after the step of maturing is heat-treated in air to generated CoO.
