Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for a soft can, which is excellent in weldability, non-aging property, and workability, and is small in the decrease of a can height, and to provide a method for manufacturing the steel sheet for a soft can.SOLUTION: The steel sheet for a soft can has a steel composition composed, by mass%, of 0.0015-0.0050% C, 0.1-0.8% Mn, 0.01-0.10% Al, 0.0015-0.0070% N, 4×C-20×C Nb (in the atomic ratio, 0.52×C-2.58×C), 0.15×N-0.75×N B (in the atomic ratio, 0.20×N-0.97×N) and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The steel sheet for a soft can is manufactured with a continuous annealing method. As the continuous annealing condition, a soaking time t is made to be 20-90 seconds, a soaking temperature T is made to be 700-780°C, the relation among the soaking time t (second), the soaking temperature T (°C) and the steel composition (mass%) satisfies 770≤t/3+T-14.8×Log(Nb)-32×B/N≤840, a temper rolling, having 0.5-5% rolling ratio, is performed, and a temper degree is made to be the range of T2-T3.5.
