Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger which is a secondary heat exchanger to be used for recovering latent heat and has low flow passage resistance, and to develop a combustion apparatus having low overall height.SOLUTION: The secondary heat exchanger 5 comprises a case member 20 and a pipeline member 21. The pipeline member 21 is a circular heat exchange flow passage including five heat receiving pipes 31, a water inlet-side header 50 and a water outlet-side header 51. Each of the five heat receiving pipes 31 of the pipeline member 21 is divided into an inlet-side pipe part 61, a loop part 55 and an outlet-side pipe part 65. An inlet-side pipe/outlet-side pipe arrangement area 88, which is a comparatively wide space and in which only both of the inlet-side pipe part 61 and the outlet-side pipe part 65 are disposed, is formed in the case member 20. Since the inlet-side pipe/outlet-side pipe arrangement area 88 is the comparatively wide space, combustion gas can be introduced without hindrance and the resistance of the flow passage of the combustion gas is low.
