Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner manufacturing method markedly reducing an amount of colorant present on a surface of toner particles such as an emulsion aggregation toner and manufacturing toner having a smooth surface by controlling a fusion pH upon toner production.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing toner particles is composed of; forming slurry by mixing at least one emulsion of at least one resin, colorant, optionally wax, and optionally additive; heating the slurry to form aggregate particles in the slurry; forming a shell on the surface of the aggregates by adding a secondary resin latex while mixing the latex in the slurry; stopping an aggregation of particles by adjusting a pH; and heating the aggregate particles in the slurry to fuse the aggregate particles to toner particles.
