Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for deciding the number of refrigerating machines to be operated, with which the number of refrigerating machines to be operated can be decided, while reducing a burden when control of the refrigerating machines in a refrigerating machine system is performed.SOLUTION: The refrigerating machine system 1 includes a first refrigerating machine 10 and a second refrigerating machine 20. When it is decided whether one refrigerating machine is operated or two refrigerating machines are operated, out of these two refrigerating machines 10, 20, the optimum number decision line JL to be the reference of decision of the number of refrigerators in which an operation result becomes relatively large is preliminarily generated. Then, the number of machines to be operated out of the refrigerating machines 10, 20 is decided depending on whether the operation state of the refrigerating machine exceeds the optimum number decision line JL or not.
