Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a low magnification water paste in which an initial adhesive force is high in a starch adhesive of a noncarrier method.SOLUTION: The starch adhesive is prepared so that the swelling volume Va of a starch granule of non-gelatinization is at least 2.3 times and at most 3.2 times of the volume of the starch granule in an air dried state, the swelling volume Vg of the starch granule after carrying out gelatinization of the starch adhesive becomes at most 3.75 times and at most 4.80 times of the volume of the starch granule in an air dried state, and the ratio of Vg/Va becomes at least 1.5 and at most 1.7, and is made so that the shear modulus measured by a double cylinder type outer cylinder rotational viscometer of a gel to which swelling gelatinization of the adhesive has been carried out at 85°C by the rate of strain of 0.192 secis at least 2.0 kPa and at most 5.0 kPa.
