Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white-light-emitting element excellent in practical utility.SOLUTION: A white-light-emitting element has, between electrodes comprising positive and negative electrodes, a layer that contains a composition containing a fluorescence conjugated system polymer (A) and a phosphorescence compound (B) or includes a polymeric material containing a polymer having a structure of the fluorescence conjugated system polymer (A) and a structure of the phosphorescence compound (B) in the same molecule, and the polymeric material satisfies following conditions of (1), (2), and (3). (1) At least one of emission peak wavelengths of the fluorescence conjugated system polymer (A) is less than 500 nm. (2) The emission peak wavelength of the phosphorescence compound (B) is 500 nm or more. (3) The relation represented by the following equation establishes: ET-ES≥(ET-ES)-0.2 (unit: eV), where ESis an energy of the ground state of the polymer (A), ETis an energy of the lowest excited triplet state of the polymer (A), ESis an energy of the ground state of the compound (B), and ETis an energy of the lowest excited triplet state of the compound (B).
