Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that a main body shape of a projection type display device configured for oblique projection can be made compact without degrading a projection function.SOLUTION: The projector is provided with a lamp unit 14, an optical modulation unit 15, a projection optical unit 17, a control circuit unit 23 and a main body cabinet 1. The projection optical unit 17 is composed of a projection lens unit 101 and a reflection mirror 102 for reflecting light which shines through the projection lens unit 101 toward a projected surface. The reflection mirror 102 is disposed to shift from an optical axis L of the projection lens unit 101 to the bottom surface side of the main body cabinet 1. In the space G generated between the projection lens unit 101 and the bottom surface of the main body cabinet 1 due to a gap between the position of the projection lens unit 101 and that of the reflection mirror 102, the control circuit unit 23 is disposed.
