Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curing apparatus having the desired curing power density, sizes and solid light emitting elements of heat generation properties.SOLUTION: There is provided an instrument 10 for curing photo-curable compounds in the mouth of a patient including a housing 12 and a plurality of solid light emitting elements on a substrate. A collective array 32 is formed on the substrate. An optical focusing device 44 includes a non-imaging optical device which is operated for collimating the emitted light from the array of elements 32 into a beam to be directed to a compound for curing the compound. A disposable sleeve 50 covers the housing and array and can incorporate the optical focusing device. The sleeve 50 is removed and discarded after use to eliminate the need to autoclave the instrument.
