Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil mist inhibitor, in the cuttings and grindings of metal members such as steels, steel alloys, and aluminum, or of fragile materials such as quartz, silicon, ceramics, and carbons for the purpose of inhibiting the oil mist of the primary factor deteriorating a working atmosphere without obstructing the emulsified state and working performance.SOLUTION: This oil mist inhibitor for use in water-based processed oils comprises a temperature sensitive polymer whose aqueous solution has a lower limit critical solution temperature (LCST), wherein the temperature sensitive polymer comprises a polymer containing as ingredients one or more kinds of N, N-diethyl acrylamide, N, N-dimethyl acrylamide, N-isopropyl acrylamide, and dimethylaminopropyl acrylamide, this inhibitor being based on the invention completed by the findings that the addition of this inhibitor as a mist inhibitor brings about the outstanding inhibition of oil mist and besides the addition itself has no influence on the working performance and dilution/emulsion performance.
