Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe joint which secures coming off prevention and sealing properties of a connection pipe, and yet achieves reduction in a tightening torque thereby enabling tightening work to be performed with a small tightening torque even in a narrow place such as an underpart of a roof.SOLUTION: The pipe joint includes a joint body 1 having a socket part 4 in which a distal end side end part P-1 of a connection pipe P is inserted, tightening nut 2 screwed and bonded to a male screw 11 of the socket part 4 and a ferrule 3 disposed inside the socket part 4 of the joint body 1. A tapered surface 7 abutting on and pressing a distal end side part 3a of the ferrule 3 in a radial inner direction to apply force in a diameter reducing direction is formed in the inner periphery of the socket part 4. The distal end side part 3a of the ferrule 3 is cut into a gap between the tapered surface 7 and the outer periphery of the connection pipe by pushing a rear end part 3b of the ferrule 3 in a shaft inner direction caused by tightening of the tightening nut 2. A recessed part 12 for connection pipe escape for permitting displacement in a radial outward direction of the distal end side end part P-1 of the connection pipe P is formed in an inner peripheral surface on the shaft inner direction side of a narrowing side end 7a of the tapered surface 7 in the socket part 4.
