PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide driving support device for a vehicle which can notify a driver of existence of the vehicle which requires collision avoidance without making the driver feel troublesomeness.SOLUTION: The driving support device (1, 20) for the vehicle supports driving of the driver, and includes: a traveling state detection means (6) for detecting a traveling state of an own vehicle; obstacle detection means (2, 4) for detecting an obstacle existing around the own vehicle; determination area setting means (32, 40) for setting a determination area (PSD) where determination for performing an operation for avoiding collision with an obstacle should be performed according to the traveling state of the own vehicle detected by the traveling state detection means is to be performed; recognition area setting means (28, 40) for setting a recognition area where the existence of the obstacle should be recognized; and alarm output means (42, 44, 16) for alarming the existence of the obstacle to the driver when the obstacle detection means detects the obstacle in the recognition area, and furthermore, it is predicted that the detected obstacle intrudes into the determination area in traveling of the own vehicle.
