Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber molded body being remarkably light weight, having cushionability, generating little fiber scattering from the surface, having no problem in environmental pollution such as generation of harmful materials, and excellent in thermal shock resistance and mechanical impact resistance.SOLUTION: The light-weight inorganic fiber molded body obtained by impregnating a needle blanket of the inorganic fiber with an inorganic sol, and subsequently drying the same, and having a bulk density of 0.08-0.20 g/cm, is provided. The inorganic fiber molded body is produced by needling an aggregate of an inorganic fiber precursor obtained by a sol-gel method, subsequently baking the same, impregnating the obtained inorganic aggregate with the inorganic sol, and subsequently drying the same.
