Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which employs an indirect transfer system for colors Y, M and C, and a direct transfer system for a color K, the image forming apparatus correcting color registration error without increasing a number of sensors.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus employs the indirect transfer system for the colors Y, M and C, and the direct transfer system for the color K, wherein color adjustment patterns of the color K moved to a direct transfer body by a direct transfer part are moved to an intermediate transfer body, and color adjustment patterns of a single color moved to the intermediate transfer body, and color adjustment patterns of the colors Y, M and C moved to the intermediate transfer body are detected by a sensor, and thus the image forming apparatus carries out color adjustment in main and sub scan directions of respective printing images.
