Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide capability for identifying and solving problems related to a seal oil system as soon as possible.SOLUTION: A hydrogen cooled generator (10) having the system for diagnosing the problems related to the seal oil system. The hydrogen cooled generator includes: a shaft (14) having a turbine end (30) and a collector end (32); a first shaft seal (16) located about the shaft at the turbine end (30); a second shaft seal (16) located about the shaft at the collector end (32); a first set of sensors (22A, 22C) for measuring seal oil pressure differentials across both shaft seals (16); a second set of sensors (24A, 26A) for measuring seal oil temperature differentials across both shaft seals (16); a third sensor (34A, 34B) for measuring a hydrogen side (18) seal oil flow rate; and the system (48) for analyzing data collected from at least two sensors to diagnose the shaft seals. |
