Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep transmission characteristics of an optical fiber constant and to suppress deterioration of connection characteristics when connecting the optical fiber by controlling a sealing distance of a hole by a sealant. SOLUTION: The method for sealing the end face of the optical fiber is provided, which seals a hole in the end face of an optical fiber having the hole in the longitudinal direction. The method includes: a first step of injecting a sealant into the hole from the end face of the optical fiber and curing the sealant; and a second step of cutting the optical fiber at the site where the sealant has been injected in the hole as a cutting surface.
