Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve printing quality by maintaining constant a feed amount of recording paper independently of types of recording paper and factors changed with time such as change of an amount of abrasion of rollers and an amount of paper dust adhered to rollers in a printer which includes a transfer roller pair driven by a motor for transfer of the recording paper and a printing unit which carries out printing to the recording papers transferred by the transfer roller pair. SOLUTION: An amount of gap between the number of command pulses of the motor necessary for transferring a reference recording paper and the number of command pulses of the motor necessary for transferring recording paper other than the reference recording paper is stored beforehand as correction table data for each type of recording paper. Moreover, an amount of gap of the number of command pulses of the motor necessary when the reference recording paper is transferred at the present time point from a shipping time point of the printer is acquired by measurement. A command pulse number of the motor is set according to the type of the recording paper on the basis of the acquired amount of gap and the correction table data (step S9).
