Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short arc discharge lamp of vertical lighting composed of an arc tube forming a discharge space, a pair of an upper electrode and a lower electrode arranged in the arc tube facing each other, and an electrode axis press-inserted and fixed into the electrodes, in which the electrodes are so structured as not to fall down inside the arc tube even if the upper electrode is removed from the electrode axis. SOLUTION: The upper electrode and the electrode axis are provided respectively with a falling-off prevention piece and a falling-off prevention port into which the falling-off prevention piece is inserted. The insertion length where the falling-off prevention piece is inserted into the falling-off prevention port is longer than an inter-electrode distance between the pair of the electrodes.
