Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power control device reducing power consumption in a computer system connected to a network. SOLUTION: The power control device, in a network system to which a first network device connectable to the network at a first communication speed and a second network device connectable to the network at a second communication speed higher than the first communication speed are connected, includes a variable clock generation means which is disposed on the first or second network device connected to the network through a hub connectable to only the second communication speed, and automatically sets the system clock of the first or second network device to the lowest frequency within a range where normal communication can be performed without a receiving packet error.
