Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make wear and seizure hard to occur on the sliding faces of a sliding mechanism part of a high pressure fuel supply. SOLUTION: In the high pressure fuel supply pump, wear resistant and seizure resistant coatings are formed on member surfaces which slide in contact with each other. Specifically, in the high-pressure fuel supply pump, one of the sliding faces which slide in contact with each other has a hardened layer consisting of one of a nitrided layer and a carbonitrided layer, and the other sliding face opposing to the above sliding surface has a high-hardness carbon based coating. Preferably, Fe3N (a white compound layer) remains in the nitrided layer or the carbonitrided layer having no high-hardness carbon based coating. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
