Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of laying a superconducting cable, capable of reducing the term of works up to construction of a transmission line in which a superconducting cable is laid after the superconducting cable is designed, by enabling the adjustment of the length of a heat insulating pipe. SOLUTION: The method of laying a superconducting cable includes (1) a step of preparing a superconducting cable in which at least one end of a heat insulating pipe is so provided with a temporary port as to lead to space between an inner tube and an outer tube and to project in the axial direction of the heat insulating tube and moisture in the space between the inner tube and the outer tube is removed, (2) a step of laying the superconducting cable, (3) a step of providing a vacuum port in a position out of a redundant section longer than the actual laying length of the heat insulating pipe, while introducing a dry gas from the temporary port after laying of the superconducting cable, (4) a step of adjusting the length of the heat insulating pipe by cutting off the redundant section of the end of the heat insulating pipe and sealing the end of the heat insulating pipe after formation of the vacuum port, and (5) a step of vacuumizing the space between the inner pipe and the outer pipe through the vacuum port after length adjustment of the heat insulating pipe.
