Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the frame speed, when obtaining still images of a plurality of frames, in a consecutive photographc mode. SOLUTION: A shutter includes a first opening/closing operation for obtaining a still image, by performing opening/closing operation so as to obtain predetermined exposure amount; and a second opening/closing operation for a purpose different from the first opening/closing operation. After the shutter performs the opening/closing operation according to the first opening/closing operation, an image signal is read from an imaging element. Control for shutting a rear curtain is performed at a timing T, and energization of a motor for driving a shutter is started at a timing V, after the lapse of a time Td. The shutter starts to open by the second opening/closing operation at a timing X. Time ts, the time from timing W when readout of the image signal from the imaging element is completed to timing X when the shutter starts to open is measured. In a photographic sequence of a second frame, time obtained by subtracting the time ts from the time Td is set as new time Td, and controlling of a series of exposure operations is performed.
