Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a signal arrival direction estimation method which, when the directions of arrival of a plurality of strongly-correlated elementary waves contained in an incoming signal wherein the respective elementary waves are mutually combined are estimated, alleviates their calculation-task loads, and alleviating the ambiguity of the results of estimation with respect to the respective elementary waves, while alleviating influence of noise etc. SOLUTION: By calculating the direction of arrival of each elementary wave as a coupling coefficient vector to a group of direction narrowing-down reference vectors on the basis of an evaluation formula, and subsequently taking the weighted average of a plurality of coupling coefficients appearing in this coupling coefficient vector correspondingly to the respective elementary waves and calculating the direction of arrival, the calculation-task loads are alleviated, and the ambiguity is alleviated. Moreover, by determining the significance of a signal level as one elementary wave, based on the total of the plurality of coupling coefficients appearing correspondingly to the respective elementary waves, the influence of unrequired signals including the noise etc. is suppressed, and erroneous determination of the signal is alleviated.
