Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct color correction with a favorable projection image even if the color of a projection surface is not uniform. SOLUTION: In the image projection device, a light modulation element 17 is driven in accordance with an image signal, and a projection image formed of light from the light modulation element is projected on the projection surface 33. The image projection device has: a color detection means 27 to detect the color of a detection area by receiving reflection light reflected on the detection area set on the projection surface; a correction means 14 to correct and process the image signal so as to correct the color of the projection image on the basis of the color of the detection area; and detection area changing means 24, 31 to change at least one of the position and the size of the detection area according to an operation selected by the user.
