Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem that, when a maintenance apparatus is operated in order to discharge air bubbles in a liquid channel, an ink in the liquid channel is wastefully consumed. SOLUTION: This air bubble detector includes: a light emitting section 64 which emits light; an outer peripheral section 60a as a light emitting path forming section which forms the path for the light emitted from the light emitting section 64; the outer peripheral section 60a as a reflective light path forming section which forms a path for the reflective light for which the light is reflected by air bubbles B; a light receiving section 65 which receives the reflective light through the outer peripheral section 60a; a through-hole 60b as a discharging channel through which the air bubbles B are discharged; and a suction section 78 which sucks the air bubbles B through the through-hole 60b. The light emitting path forming section, the reflective light path forming section and the discharging channel are formed of a tubular member 60 which is an integral member. Then, at least part of the tubular member 60 is provided in the liquid channel to constitute the air bubble detector. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
