Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a method for controlling growth of hair on human skin with low doses of electromagnetic radiation, and a device (1) for carrying out the method. SOLUTION: In the method, the radiation of a suitable spectrum in one or more pulses of between 1 and 100 ms and with maximum values on the skin between 1 and 12 J/cm2is applied to the skin (12). By applying such low values and controlled pulse speeds, follicles of the hair are induced to the intermediate phase. Namely, the growth of these follicles stops. Although the method is not primarily aimed at immediate hair removal, the hair is shed subsequently. In any case, further growth is stopped for prolonged periods of time.
