Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient, efficient method for assaying glycated protein, fructosyl peptide, or fructosyl amino acid which can be performed with reduced effect of fructosyl lysine compounds, and to provide a reagent for the assay. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for reducing the effect of a fructosyl lysine in an assay of fructosyl valyl histidine, characterized by specifically acting fructosyl peptide oxidase on fructosyl valyl histidine at a pH of 4.0-7.0 and measuring the obtained hydrogen peroxide at a pH of 4.0-7.0 to decrease the effect of the fructosyl lysine.
