Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a current and voltage generated by absorbing light more than ever before in a dye-sensitized solar cell using an inorganic sensitizer. SOLUTION: The dye-sensitized solar cell 10 is structured such that a hole transport layer 22 is interposed between a photoelectrode 12 having an electron transport layer 16 coated with a light absorption layer 18 and provided on a transparent conductive substrate 14 and a counter electrode 20 arranged to face the photoelectrode 12. The light absorption layer 18 includes, as a sensitizing dye, a metal sulfide (such as SnS) having a surface reforming layer containing a predetermined amount of an element having a higher electronegativity than sulfur, the metal sulfide being provided on an interface with respect to the hole transport layer.
