Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a coarse grain rate in product pulverized coal in a vertical roller mill equipped with a fixed type classifier. SOLUTION: The vertical roller mill 10 is provided with a cyclone fixed type classifier 20A which classifies fine powder of small grain size by centrifugal force and make it flow outside, in a casing 11. The fixed type classifier 20A introduces solid-gas two-phase flow inside from a fixed blade inlet window 22 that opens in a cone 21, swirling the solid-gas two-phase flow with a fixed blade 23 mounted on the vicinity of the inside of the fixed blade inlet window 22. As a result, the fine powder flows outside from a pulverized coal exit 16 in the upper part through the lower end side of an inner cylinder 24 installed inside the cone 21. Near the fixed blade inlet window 22, there is provided a drift plate 26 intensifying downward the solid-gas two-phase flow flown from the fixed blade inlet window 22 into the inside of the cone 21.
