Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily set an optimum white balance without being affected by the knowledge level of a user. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus 1, after the instruction of MWB setting, image data which are successively imaging-processed and output are thinned to the number of pixels corresponding to a predetermined size and reduced. Then, a center area is set and divided into a predetermined number of areas, and whether the white balance is set by placing an object near the center of an imaging area is determined based on the dispersion degree of colors in the respective divided areas. When determining that the white balance is set by placing the object near the center, the white balance is set by adjusting the gain values of color components of the respective divided areas. Meanwhile, when determining that it is not so, the white balance is set by acquiring the average of the gain values for the entire image data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
