PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous polyester resin dispersion which is excellent in storage stability, can be used for forming a resin coating film being excellent in coating film characteristics such as adhesion to a substrate, the resistance to water and a solvent, and processability, and has a low acid value and a high molecular weight, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The aqueous polyester resin dispersion comprises a polyester resin (A) having an acid value of 2 to 8 mgKOH/g and a number average molecular weight of ≥5,000, a basic compound (B) and water (C), wherein the content of the polyester resin (A) is 1-70 mass%, the content of water (C) is ≥10 mass%, and no surfactant is contained.
