Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a PDP device that further improves a dark room contrast, by reducing background light emission, even if using a panel of an ALIS system with an electrode of an adjacent cell existing in the vicinity thereof. SOLUTION: The method is provided for driving the plasma display device that arranges a first electrode X and a second electrode Y extending in the first direction adjacently and alternately, forms first and second display lines at both sides of the second electrode, and performs an interlace display for alternately displaying these at different fields. One display field is composed of a plurality of subfields, and each subfield is composed of at least a reset period, address period and sustain discharge period. The reset period includes at least a writing discharge step and erase discharge step, and a voltage of the writing discharge step is differed at least at some subfields. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
