Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle number recognition device for automatically calculating a parameter to segment the serial number of a number plate since five or more road surface markers are necessary in a conventional vehicle number recognition device, and a huge time is required for an operation to attach a marker to a road surface and the measurement of world coordinates and camera coordinates. SOLUTION: One marker for determining the center of a camera is attached to a road surface, and the direction and zoom of the camera are matched by the marker, and an automatic adjustment mode is started, and a parameter is automatically calculated. In the automatic adjustment mode, a visual field size is made variable, and a parameter for serial number segmentation to be calculated from the visual field size is calculated, and the parameter is automatically calculated based on the visual field size in the calculated plate y coordinate.
