Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound useful as an effective component of a pharmaceutical composition having an α-amylase inhibiting function, particularly a pharmaceutical composition for treating diabetes. SOLUTION: It is confirmed that an amino sugar compound has an α-amylase inhibiting function, on the basis of the study of a compound having α-amylase inhibiting activity from compounds produced by Streptomyces sp. 6982 strain which is an actinomycete of genus Streptomyces. The obtained amino sugar compound has an α-amylase inhibiting function and can be used for preventive and/or therapeutic agent for diabetes, obesity and NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis), particularly, an improving agent for postprandial hyperglycemia.
