Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery with a tabless structure which prevents interior short-circuit, by suppressing the buckling of an exposure section of a collector or the deflection, twist, or split of electrodes. SOLUTION: The electrode for a secondary battery is provided with a strip-shaped collector; an active material layer formed on a surface of the collector; and a first porous insulating layer formed on a surface of the active material layer, wherein one end portion along the longitudinal direction of the collector includes an exposure section of the collector where the active material layer is not adhered, and an end surface of the active material layer adjacent to the exposure section is covered with a second porous insulating layer. A length X from the end surface of the active material layer of the second porous insulating layer is equal to or more than 1 mm, the total thickness of the active material layer and the first porous insulating layer is equal to or more than a maximum thickness of the second porous insulating layer, and thickness Y of the second porous insulating layer at a length X/2 is 1/3 to 1 time the thickness of the active material layer.
