Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus that allow software access to navigational data in a decrypted media stream, while protecting stream payloads without causing security problems. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, a filter transfers an encrypted content stream and encrypted associated information to a secure partition having a trusted computing component, in order to decrypt the encrypted content stream and the encrypted associated information. At decryption, the trusted computing component stores the decrypted payload of the content in a secure storage device accessible to the trusted computing component. Thereafter, the decrypted navigational header information of the content can be used to navigate to the decrypted content via a trusted component, such as, a trusted rendering device in the secure partition.
